Terms and Conditions

At the time of booking, you must agree to abide by the terms and conditions laid down by Paddle Up Ltd, and must make all participants in your party aware of these terms and conditions. 

Payment 

  • Bookings are confirmed once Paddle Up receives full payment 

  • A booking confirmation will be sent to the bookers email or via SMS 

  • Payments will be made to the following company Paddle Up Ltd 

  • Please read the Privacy Policy for more information

  • Principle booker must be over 18 and proof of age may be requested 

Bookings & Cancellations

To protect the interests of our small business we run a strict cancellation policy.

  • Full refund if the booking is cancelled at least 48h prior to activity start time

  • If cancellations are made less then 48 hours prior to activity start time, you will not be entitled to a refund

  • All cancellations must be made via email to info@paddleup.co.uk sent by the person who originally made the booking with Paddle Up

  • Paddle Up accepts bookings online via their website/booking agent eola

  • If you are late, we will try our best to accommodate you however we reserve the right to turn you away, and you will not be entitled to a refund

  • It is your responsibility to research the location of Paddle Up and arrive on time

Weather & River Conditions 

Due to the nature of the activity, paddle sports are susceptible to a number of environmental conditions. We cancel sessions if the wind is blowing dangerously, if lightning is forecasted, or if the river becomes unsafe to paddle on. The river can flood and streams can become too strong due to consistent rain.

  • If Paddle Up deem the conditions to be unsafe to paddle in, Paddle Up reserves the right to reschedule or offer you a refund in the form of a voucher only. No refunds.

  • If the conditions on the day aren't ideal (e.g rain, cloudy sky), the activity will still take place and you will not be eligible for a refund or to reschedule

  • Paddle Up reserves the right to change the meeting location (within a reasonable distance) in order to provide you with a safer paddling experience

Paddle Up follows advice from the Environment Agency and will not operate on the River during a red or yellow river warning. We will let you know if the weather affects your booking ASAP. We recommend that you keep an eye on our Instagram & Facebook for regular weather updates. You can check River Thames conditions yourself here.

Vouchers

To protect the interests of our small business we run a strict voucher policy.

  • We do not under any circumstance accept expired vouchers.

  • Vouchers may be used to purchase one or more services, these purchases can be undertaken separately by any time period, as long as they are before the voucher expiry date.

  • No refunds or cash alternatives.

  • You may be asked to present your voucher PDF at the time of your booking.

  • Booking must be made in advance via the Paddle Up website.

  • Vouchers can not be used in conjunction with other offers or vouchers.

  • Named person must abide by the Paddle Up’s Terms & Conditions.

  • If you are contacting Paddle Up regarding your voucher, you must provide the voucher code and the name of the person who booked for us to be able to find our voucher in our system.

Equipment 

  • All of the necessary safety equipment is included in the cost of the activity

  • All equipment is inspected on the morning of each day that it is being used and will also be checked upon each return

  • All equipment should be treated with respect and returned in the same condition as when it was taken out

The conditions of use of our equipment

  • Customers must notify Paddle Up staff if any damage is identified prior to use

  • Customers are expected to report any damage that occurs during the use of the equipment whether accidental or otherwise

  • If damage is deemed to be as a result of misuse, abuse or reckless use of the equipment, then repair or replacement of the equipment will be chargeable to the customer

  • If equipment is returned late, Paddle Up reserves the right to charge the customer a late return fee. The rate charged will be £10 for every 30 minutes the equipment is overdue - this applies to free ride only.

You are expected to bring your own following items: 

  • Suitable clothing: wetsuit/swimwear/activewear/drysuit/wet-shoes/old trainers

  • Towel or changing robe

  • Change of warm dry clothes 

  • Bottle of water 

  • Sunscreen/sun protection 

  • You may also bring your own dry bag and waterproof phone case, Paddle Up charge £1 for phone case rental which must be pre-booked online

For free ride sessions only

One person of your party MUST carry a mobile phone and you must have Paddle Up’s contact number saved in your phone prior to setting off: 07861 916134 

  • Paddle Up is not responsible for any personal items belonging to participants of Paddle Up. Customers are advised to leave valuables locked in their cars or with a friend/relative that is not participating in the activity 

  • Paddle Up will not take any responsibility for any loss or damage to your mobile (or any other electrical device) whilst participating in Paddle Up activities, we suggest you test your waterproof phone case prior to setting off on the water, or bring your own

  • Please install What3Words installed on your phone

  • Must be over 18 for unsupervised hire

Health & Safety 

  • I agree to obey the instructions of the Paddle Up staff and abide basic river etiquette as described in the briefing

  • I agree to stay within the area that Paddle Up staff tell me to

  • I understand that I can not travel through or around locks with Paddle Up’s equipment without permission

  • I agree to stay away from weirs and locks 

  • All participants must attend the on land pre-paddle briefing, you will not be permitted on the water unless you have done so regardless of the number of times you have paddled boarded 

  • For all water activities, all participants must be physically able and be comfortable in this environment, a basic level of water confidence is required.

  • I agree to declare any medical conditions prior to my activity in writing to info@paddleup.co.uk

    For example, if you have asthma you are required to notify Paddle Up and bring you inhaler with you. Otherwise you risk not be able to paddle

  • All participants of hire must demonstrate to a member of Paddle Up staff that they have a basic understanding of SUP

  • Solo hire is strictly prohibited

  • Participants of hire are strongly recommended to have had a lesson first. Paddle Up might ask participants to provide certification, eg BSUPA, WSA, British Canoeing or ask about your alternative paddle boarding experience.

  • I agree to cover up any cuts and abrasions, and to wash once I am home if I fall/swim in the river, this is to reduce the risk of weil's disease

  • I am aware than drugs or alcohol are not permitted when using Paddle Up’s equipment 

  • Smoking is not permitted when using any of Paddle Up’s equipment 

Age restrictions

Principle hirer must be over 18 years of age (proof of age may be requested)

  • Suitable for ages 12+ Anyone under the age of 18 needs to be accompanied in the session by a parent / guardian 21 years and over

  • For every one child under the age of 18, a minimum of one legal parent or guardian is required to also participate in the activity 

  • Minimum age of 12 to participate in SUP sessions - please email to discuss age when booking a parent / child session

  • Child’s age must be disclosed to Paddle Up prior to the lesson due to limited resources, we need to know in advance what size paddle board is required 

  • No unsupervised hire for participants under the age of 18 please

Insurance 

  • Even though Paddle Up carries full Public Liability Insurance, it is strongly suggested that participants carry their own personal accident policy that covers them for the activity they are undertaking 

  • All participants must share the Risk Statement with their party and be made aware by the person booking the activity, that all paddle sports carry a degree of risk, even though Paddle Up has tried to minimise these risks. Participants will only be accepted on the understanding that they are aware of these risks and wish to participate of their own free will 

  • All participants/guardians must read, understand and sign the Paddle Up Risk Statement prior to participating in any of our activities. Parents/guardians must sign on behalf of participants under the age of 18. 

Marketing 

  • Paddle Up reserves the right to make alterations to website and other marketing media details, and any other company documents, before and after any booking has been received and confirmed. Most of these changes will be minor and in most cases we will inform you at the earliest opportunity 

  • Photo(s) and/or video(s) will be taken on the day unless specified otherwise. Any photo or video taken on the day may be placed on our website and social media to help promote Paddle Up. If you do not wish to have any of your photos placed on any of our pages, please let us know in writing prior to your booking

  • Photos featured on our website have been taken by either Paddle Up, Paddle Up customers, Photographer, Alex Rorison or photographer Emma Pearce. The promo video featured on the Paddle Up home page is by videographer, Yassin Yassin

And finally, Paddle Up reserves the right to alter these terms and conditions without notice.
